Doug Huntman owns and operates Delta Backhaul Company, a boutique solid waste organization that specializes in Extreme landfill clean-up and backhaul projects. In 2006, Doug’s solid waste journey began when he accepted a position as an Environment Program Specialist with the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation. He worked for 9 years as a regulator with the State before accepting a position as the Program Director for Green Star. Doug is still active with the Green Star Communities program and assists tribes throughout Alaska with their pollution prevention program. In 2018 Doug started Delta Backhaul Company to fill a niche of small rural solid waste implementation projects. He has traveled to over 160 villages in Alaska assisting both City governments and Tribes, throughout that experience he helped develop and now implements unique “out of the Box” solutions for solid waste projects with the goal to reduce landfill impacts and protect clean-drinking water and subsistence resources.

Sometimes just getting started on a solid waste project can be overwhelming! We work with Villages to complete a variety of solid waste projects. Call us to consult on your solid waste needs. You decide the project and the timeline. We have the expertise and equipment to handle a variety of solid waste and backhaul projects. Once the project is decided we put together a budget. Once you approve a budget and scope of work, we schedule your project and get to work on the back end to endure the supplies and equipment are ready to go at the start of the project. We then travel to location with our small crew, relying on local labor and guidance from the community to implement the project and see it to completion. We are very flexible in our approach and are adapted to the changing environment and the challenges of working remotely. We love what we do and are ready to assist, start to finish with your community with solid waste implementation projects.
